SEM: What is it? And does your business need it?
Facebook: The Next Level 2
At SocialTrend, we love to empower our clients to understand their marketing strategy and to educate them on the various strategies we implore for the best results. Facebook is a hugely popular platform (226 million users are active every month in the US and Canada alone), which can have a major impact on the bottom line of your business if used properly. However, like all things in technology, Facebook is constantly changing. So, if you are continuing the same organic strategy with Facebook that you have been using in the past, you will see your results suffer.
We have set up this series of blogs to help you understand the changes on Facebook and how to make those changes work for your business, your clients and your bottom line.
Changes Facebook has made for Business Pages:
- Business Page Layout – Have you noticed your logo picture has moved to the left of the screen on your desktop view, but remains overlapping the cover photo on mobile? This is important to understand, in addition to the difference in size on desktop versus mobile when creating your cover art.
- The About Section – The About section has been moved to the right hand column of your business page and is more prominent. Is your about section filled out? Does it describe your most important information to current clients and potential clients?
- Facebook has made a lot of other minor tweaks to the look of your business page. For all the details, check out THIS ARTICLE.
And most importantly:
- Newsfeed algorithms – In mid-2016, Facebook changed its algorithm. This algorithm determines user’s news feed content and as a result the posts of friends and family are prioritized over business posts. This means your current organic audience (people that have liked your page) will see your posts a lot less often. And if your users see your posts less often, they aren’t reminded of your brand, educated about your promotions or sharing your message with friends. While this algorithm change maybe popular to the average Facebook user, it is not an advantage to businesses using Facebook for crucial market reach.
Not convinced? Try this quick test to see how your audience is changing: Review a few of your recent posts and make note of the average number of people they reached. Now compare that audience reach to a few posts from January or February 2016. Did the average number of people grow or shrink? And remember, most likely more people have liked your page in that time frame, so the number should be growing!
The bottom line is this: Facebook will not be as effective as it was in the past unless you change your strategy. At Socialtrend we understand how to tap into the resources and tools on Facebook to ensure your strategy is working to reach your audience AND influence them to buy your product or service.
